2004-12-16 (10:10pm) currently listening to: AT831 mics
Jesus... Whose dumbass idea was it for a frickin 3 hour Apprentice? I turned it off once Regis showed up. I'll let Mom tell me who won.
I'm trying to pick out some mics so I can start taping some shows next year. At the moment, I'm thinking of either some AT853's, AT831's, or maybe some Studio Projects C-4's. The problem w/ the C4's is that then I'd probably end up getting an Eridol UA-5 to power them, which would add about $300 to my bill. The C4's are also the most expensive of the mics I'm looking at, so they're probably not gonna be my first pick. If anyone has any opinions (lol) on my setup, feel free to shoot me an email.

2004-12-10 (8:00pm) currently listening to: Jeff Tweedy - March 25, 1998
Work was pretty hectic today. Glad it's the weekend. Talked to Ernie today on AIM. Good to talk to the old gang from SB.
Dowloaded the Tool show I went to and a Jeff Tweedy set from '98. They're up in the setlists.

2004-12-08 (5:30pm) currently listening to: Wilco - 11-13-2004
Today was a sweet day to take off. I was able to download the soundboard pull of the Wilco show I went to before EZtree banned it. Apparently Wilco generally does not allow soundboard feeds and if they do, they ask you to not widely distribute them. Oh well... The setlist is up on my trading page. If anyone wants a copy, as usual, I'm willing to trade or do a B&P for you. Then I happened to check out the user info for the guy that seeded the Wilco torrent. Low and behold one of the torrents he seeded was the Tool show I went to in 2001. So I'm downloading that puppy right now. Can't wait to hear that again. ...Anyway, If I was at work, I would not have been able to get the sbd pull of the Wilco show, and probably wouldn't have noticed the Tool torrent. Today's been a pretty good day so far.

2004-12-06 (9:10pm) currently listening to: O.A.R. - 11-27-2004
24 days till Vegas.
My day in 3 words: Slow. Cold. Metroid.
Slow day at work. Not too much going on. Last Thursday I took a trip down to Consolidated Repro down in LA. They've got a much bigger operation down there than we do. It was interesting seeing how another ARC company does buisness.
It's coooold outside. Sounds like a storm is brewing.
I picked up Metroid Prime 2 a day or so after it was released. Haven't gotten much playtime in. Right now, I'm at Torvus Bog. I love how the game is named... Metroid Prime 2. It's the 7th Metroid game released. Shouldn't it be like Metroid 7 or something? As far as storyline goes, I think it goes: {Metroid || Metroid Zero Mission (a remake of the original) || Metroid Prime || Metroid Prime 2: Echoes || Metroid 2: The Return of Samus || Metroid 3: Super Metroid || Metroid 4: Metroid Fusion} I'm not totally sure that's where MP2 fits in, but it's probably close.
Last but not least I added some setlists from O.A.R.'s shows at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC.
My posting frequency has been pathetic lately. I'll have to try to post more often. Till next time... Ta ta.

November

2004-11-24 (9:50pm) currently listening to: Phish - 10-26-1989
Doing some minor site updates. I think I removed most of the broken links. I got rid of some clutter. Nothing too exciting. We got slammed today at work. We're running a huge job for delivery Monday that will take about 80 hours to print. At least I get to sleep in tomorrow and then eat a bunch of food.

2004-11-17 (7:50pm) currently listening to: Wilco - Don't Fear the Reaper (11-15-04)
I taped the Wilco webcast on Monday. My tape came out well. I only lost the stream twice. One time was at the end of a the first song for about half a second. The other time I lost the stream was for about 4 seconds during the middle of Spiders. I'm not going to widely distribute my tape because I know there are already two sources out there. I'll gladly trade my source, but I'm not going to the trouble of widely distributing it, because most people that would want it probably already have a copy. My source info is up on my trading page.

2004-11-15 (7:50pm) currently listening to: Wilco - Handshake Drugs

19. Candyfloss
20. California Stars

Encore 2:
21. Kingpin
22. The Late Greats
23. I'm A Wheel

The show was awesome. It was an interesting venue for a concert. For the first half of the show, the crowd was sitting, then people finally got into the show and stood up. I was definately impressed with the show. They put on a solid performance. Tweedy's comments during the show were pretty interesting to hear. For example, he commented on Jesus Etc at one interlude and the drummer's smoldering good looks another time. I got a chance to talk to the taper after the show for a minute. I was excited (as always) when I see the mics appear at a show I'm at. Hopefully the show will be released fairly soon. I can't wait to hear the show again.

The day of truth... Go vote before the polls close.

don't fret precious, i'm here
step away from the window. go back to sleep.
safe from pain and truth and choice and other poison devils.
see, they don't give a fuck about you like i do.
count the bodies like sheep.
counting bodies like sheep to the rhythm of the war drums.
go back to sleep.

i'll be the one to protect you from your enemies and all you demons.
i'll be the one to protect you from a wil to survive and a voice of reason.
i'll be the one to protect you from your enemies and your choices, son.
they're one in the same.
i must isolate you.
isolate and save you from yourself.
Sleep.

2004-10-28 (7:45pm) currently listening to: U2 - Sunday, Bloody Sunday
I got off work early today, so I went home, finished my book, and took a nap. I added a couple of new setlists to the site. I'm Playing poker at Mark's tonight. I haven't played poker since C's tourney a month or so ago. Supposedly the "C Invitational Duex" is coming up soon. My fantasy football team took another dump this weekend. I'm 2-5 so far this year. If I lose this weekend, I think I'll probably be out of the $$ again this year.

2004-10-20 (6:00pm) currently listening to: Phish 1990-11-03
Well, I guess since Sharing The Groove is definately gone, I'll take down the broken link. The Groove was a great site. Too bad it's gone. Since I don't have anything better, good old etree gets the Groove's old spot on the nav bar. Sometime I'll have to do a major site update because I don't really know what is here anymore.
Haven't been up to much lately. I've been playing Wind Waker for Gamecube, trying to learn to play the guitar, and working. My job is going fine. I'm still working at San Jose Blue. On November 13th, I'm going to see Wilco in San Jose. My fantasy football team is 2-4 so far. Not much else going on around here. Don and I are planning a trip to Vegas for New Years. If you're interested in going, drop me a line... That reminds me I still need to call some peoples. Later.

2004-09-25 (4:50pm) currently listening to: Matt Nathanson - Sad Songs
Well, it looks like my fantasy team is finally gonna put up a W. Too bad there is no depth on my team... When bye weeks come up, I'm gonna really get smoked. I picked up some tickets to see Wilco in San Jose on Nov 13. Should be a pretty sweet show. Noting else new over here. Hope you're all having fun.

2004-09-13 (7:05pm) currently listening to: DMB - So Much to Say (8-28-04)
This weekend was a lot of fun. Tom, Mel, and Dylan came out to visit for the weekend. My aunt, uncle, and cousins came down to visit Dylan on Saturday. On Sunday I went to the DMB concert in Golden Gate Park. Here's the setlist:
Dave Matthews Band
Sunday September 12, 2004
Golden Gate Park - Polo Field

One Sweet World
What Would You Say
So Much To Say ->
Anyone Seen the Bridge ->
Pantala Naga Pampa ->
Rapunzel
Joy Ride
#41
Best of Whats Around
Lie In Our Graves
The Stone
Drive In Drive Out
Loving Wings
Where Are You Going
Hello Again
Jimi Thing
Warehouse *
Sugar Will *
All Along The Watchtower *
Stay
  Encore:
Everyday
Too Much

* w/ Carlos Santana
The highlight of the show was definately Santana on Warehouse, Sugar Will, and Watchtower. The encore was pretty lame, but the rest of the setlist makes up for it. Overall I think the setlist for the show in LA might have been a little better. Some things surprised me in LA that I was expecting in San Fran, like So Much to Say -> Rapunzel. I was kindof expecting Santana to come out for the whole show, and then once he was out there, I figured he'd probably play 3 songs and close with Watchtower like last time at Pac Bell Park. The only surprises here were the amount of old material they played and the mediocre encore.
I finally downloaded the Ben Harper set from two weeks ago. Here is the setlist.

August

2004-08-30 (6:05pm) currently listening to: Phish - Bathtub Gin
Weekend was fun. Here's the setlist and a mini review for the moment:
Dave Matthews Band
August 28, 2004
Home Depot Center, Carson, CA

The Stone
When the World Ends
Satellite
#41
Joy Ride
Loving Wings ->
Where Are You Going
Warehouse
Everyday
Ants Marching
Bartender
Help Myself
Rhyme and Reason
Hello Again
So Much To Say ->
Anyone Seen the Bridge? ->
Pantala Naga Pampa ->
Rapunzel
  Encore:
Granny
Two Step
The highlight of the show for me was Loving Wings. Didn't seem like the crowd liked it too much tho. The first half of the show was incredible. The second half was also sweet, but not quite as good as the first half. I was kinda surprised they only played 2 of the new songs. I was definatly surprised by the number of old songs they played. I expected more new material, but I can't complain. There wasn't a bad song on the list.

2004-08-25 (6:05pm) currently listening to: DMB - Seek Up
I'm planning to delete my messageboard and guestbook. If anyone objects, post something there before it gets deleted.

2004-08-24 (5:35pm) currently listening to: Blink 182 - Down
I downloaded the phinal Phish phestival. The setlists are up on my tape trading page. Each show was 3 sets and 5 discs long. The phirst day was pretty sweet. I'll probably start listening to the phinal Phish show later today. The 2 disc O.A.R album 34th & 8th comes out today. I got my copy in the mail yesterday. I'm planning to listen to it on my drive down to LA on Phriday aphternoon. The album also comes with an hour long bonus DVD of songs phrom the show.

My grandmother, Helen McComiskey, passed away this morning in her sleep. It wasn't really a surprise, but still nothing fun. She broke her hip last year sometime and never really recovered. Hopefully she's in a better place.

If you have an employee who causes millions of people to lose their job, fights a war for oil (while still keeping gas prices at an all time high), passes legislation to harm the environment, and promotes censorship of the airwaves to the point that you can't do a simple fart joke on the radio... Do you want to rehire him? What makes you think he's doing a good job? Hell, I think I could do a better job.
More Doom 3 Impressions:
1) It doesn't matter if I'm running at Ultra Quality at 1024x768 with all the bells and whistles on, or if I'm running at 640x480 with no special features on... I get about the same framerate: a choppy 20 frames per second. It's so slow that the only way I don't die when I'm attacked from behind is if I have god mode on.
2) Doom 3 is a glorified tech demo. Great visuals, but the gameplay is rather lacking.
3) Why can't I strap the flashlight to a gun, or hold the light in the opposite hand of the gun!?! If I was really there, the first thing I'd do after soiling myself is find a way to strap my flashlight to my gun.

2004-08-14 (12:20am) currently listening to: nothing
Doom 3 First Impressions:
1) Beautiful game. Impressive lighting and textures everywhere.
2) Terrible framerate on my machine. (1.4G AMD/GeForce 4 TI 4400) I was playing at 800x600 with low graphics settings and everything turned off in the advanced graphics window. I ranged from 60fps when there was no special lighting and no enemies to 6fps when there were multiple enemies, lighting effects, and particle effects. I seemed to average about 20-30fps most of the time. With settings set as low as they can go, Doom 3 is still not playable on my machine because of the craptastic framerate.
3) With all the special graphics features turned off, the creatures look like overgrown polygons.
4) It's still only Doom. No real changes to the gameplay from the original game. Enemies still charge at you. No new interesting weapons. It's 10 years later and I'm playing a prettier version of the same game... Doom's gameplay just doesn't hold up anymore when compared to Battlefield 1942, Halo, Half-Life, or Unreal Tournament.
5) I hope Half Life 2 isn't this disappointing.

2004-08-10 (8:40pm) currently listening to: O.A.R. - About an Hour Ago
Well, it's been a little while since the last update... This weekend, I went to visit my cousins on the farm in Brentwood. It was a fun weekend filled with videogames, pool, and good food. Multiplayer Zelda is pretty fun. Although, it would have been more fun if I didn't already beat the game. Oh well, it was still fun.
I got a guitar a little over a week ago and am trying to learn how to play it. I'm pretty bad, but hopefully I'll improve a little bit so I can play a few songs. So far I know 4 chords...
Yesterday I ordered some DMB tickets for the show on the 28th in LA. I was surprised there were still floor seats available. Granted, the tickets are at the very back of the floor, but it should still be a good show. The openers are Black Eyed Peas and Ben Harper.
Since my U-Mail account expired, I don't need a link to it anymore. Fantasy Football is starting up again, so I figured I'd put a link to my fantasy league up on the nav bar where it'll get some use.

July

2004-07-30 (9:30pm) currently listening to: Grateful Dead - Scarlet Begonias
Another craptastic day at work. At least it's Friday night. I think Abby and I are gonna try to see a movie... We'll see how that works out, since we probably won't show up at the theater until 10 or so.
I promised more about Yosemite. I spent most of the time just hanging out by the Merced River. Lots of nothing. It was fun. On Monday, I went for a hike along the Hetch Hetchy reservior. It was a short little 14 mile hike. We hiked up past Wapama Falls to Rancheria Falls. It was a pretty nice hike except when I almost stepped on a rattlesnake. That was probably the fastest I've moved for years when I heard the snake start rattling. Saw some bears this year. None fell on my tent this time. ;) Nothing else really notable from the trip. It was a nice break from the rest of the world.
Tom got some tickets to the DMB show in San Fran on Sept 12. Looks like I'll be seeing DMB twice this summer, which is pretty good considering I didn't think I'd see them at all this year. I just hope they mix up the setlists a little more than they have been so far this tour. The new songs are cool, but you don't need to play the same 4-5 songs every day... Anyway I hope everyone is having a plesant evening so far. It's nice to spend a little time with you all once in awhile.

I'm baaaaack. It was an awesome week up in Yosemite. I always wish the week was longer. More to come later...

"It's crazy how we all need this time a little more every way.
It's wild how we stay up night's losing part of the day.
The one time that you're loathing is there for you oh so well.
So pick up that precious someone and relax for a delicate spell."
Random Thought ...Why do O.A.R. play City on Down -> Delicate Few? I think it would be cooler the other way (Delicate Few -> City). I definately like each song better on it's own...
I just figured I'd update for those of you who actually like seeing updates here. Nothing new and exciting today. Poker later tonight. I actually won last week, which is surprising because I always loose. Looking forward to Saturday morning... Ahhhh a week in Yosemite. Some people say the happiest place on earth is Disneyland. Others say it's Los Vegas. I say it's Yosemite.

I was playing around with Mozilla Firefox today. That program seems to be way better than IE. I like how you can have new windows open up in new tabs via a plugin. After I played around with firefox for awhile, I decided I'd try out Thunderbird, the Mozilla mail client. It seems ok. Those are now my default email/internet programs on my home machine. Wheeeee open-source programs!!
I saw Anchorman yesterday. It's dumb, but it's really funny. There was a span of about 5 minutes where I was just laughing hysterically. I recommend it for anyone who wants to hear a dog bark in Spanish... or if you just want to watch a funny movie.
I'm goin to Yosemite on Saturday. Should be a fun week of rest and relaxation. If there are no more updates this week, I'll talk to you all after I get back.

2004-07-08 (5:40pm) currently listening to: Wilco - Wishful Thinking
I downloaded the Dead show I went to today while I was at work. After work, I picked up Wilco - A Ghost is Born, and Robert Randolph - Unclassified. I didn't know what to listen to when I got home... Too much good stuff. I tried supporting my local Indie record store today, but they didn't have any of the handful of things I was looking for, so I went to Borders. Come on, the Wilco album is only about a week or 2 old. CD Warehouse should at least have that one. So far the Wilco album is pretty cool. I'll have to pick up Yankee Hotel Foxtrot sometime...
It's poker night tonight. Maybe I'll win for once... nah, not gonna happen. Hopefully the world series will be on while we're playing, then at least when I lose I can watch some good poker on tv. lol.

It's been a busy weekend here at the Hora household. Dad and I tore down our old shed on Sat, dug a hole for the foundation of our new shed on Sun, and we laid the concrete foundation today. Today is my first paid holiday ever. It's pretty cool to get paid for working when you don't even need to show up. It would have been even cooler if I wasn't working out in the yard all day, but it is still cool.
4th of July was pretty fun, except when I was digging. After I was done working in the yard, I went for a swim over at Mark and Abby's apartment complex. I watched Along Came Polly and played a little foosball to round out my day. ;)

The Dead show on Saturday night was pretty cool. Here's the setlist:
June 26, 2004
Shoreline Amphitheater
Mountain View , CA

Set 1:
Jam>
Here Comes Sunshine>
Jackstraw>
Darkstar (Verse 1)>

Set 2:

The Last Time>
Fire On The Mountain>
Drums/Space>
Stella Blue>
Darkstar (Verse 2)>
One More Saturday Night

E: Ripple

*Bobby and Warren acoustic
@ Bobby acoustic
The first set was pretty good. The first half of the second set was awesome! The drum solo was cool for about 5 min... then it got kinda old for the other 15min or so. Show ended with One More Saturday Night, which I predicted, and Ripple. Ripple was pretty cool. I don't remember hearing that one before, but then again I don't know many of the names of Dead songs. All I have are concerts where the show goes song1>song2>song3>song4>drums>space>song7. I can't even differentiate between one song and the next most of the time.
I watched The Girl with the Pearl Earring last night. It wasn't very good, but if any of you saw it... What was it about? I couldn't figure it out, and neither could the person I was watching it with. I didn't fall asleep and I was paying attention the whole time, but I could not figure out the point of the movie. There wasn't much of a point to Lost in Translation either, but at least that had Bill Murray and was funny. "Remember for relaxing times, make it Sentori Times."
I got off work today at about 3:30. Then I came home and took a nap for a few hours. I ate dinner at Chipotle tonight. I'm not sure why some people think it's so great. I didn't think it was anything special. I'm uploading some new pics of Dylan that you can check out. ...Anyway, hope you all had a good day. I'll talk to you later.

Heh.. Two web updates the same day. Can't remember the last time that happened. Oh well, I guess I'm bored or something. Does anyone else notice that the recent "news" is pretty much "new setlists uploaded," "band X is doing this," "work is slow," "i'm playing this game," "insert randomness here." I was reading someone else's web log and it at least had more subjects that it touched on...
...so we're gonna talk about um, well.. uh. Yeah, this is why I only talk about a couple of things. I don't do much else. I'm reading the 5th book in the Dark Tower series. It was pretty lame at first, but it's picking up now. Only about another 100 pages to go. The book is pretty short. It's 400 pages where the last one was about 600 pages. The final book (7) comes out in 87 days.

I was helping someone out who is learning about tape trading. I lost my train of thought, not that it was going anywhere. Oh well, I'm gonna go to bed. Tomorrow is the Dead show! I've been looking forward to this all week. I've even got the best person I can think of to go with me to the show. :D

Went to the beach on Sat. Hung out with Abby Sunday afternoon. It was a pretty chill weekend. Work today was sloooooooow, so I left at about 3:00. Hopefully there will be more to do tomorrow.
I added some setlists over the weekend. I burned all of my concerts off of my hard drive over the past couple of days, so now I've got 16GB of free space that I can fill up with concerts again. ;D Dead concert is coming up on Sat!! Wheeeeeee!!!

2004-06-14 (8:15pm) currently listening to: Gabe Dixon Band - More Than it Would Seem
I uploaded all my pics of Dylan. I'll have some kind of preview page sometime, but at the moment it's just a directory listing.
I also added some more setlists. That page keeps growing and growing. :p It's almost time to go bowling, so I'll talk to you all later.

2004-06-10 (7:05pm) currently listening to: DMB - 1994-12-03
I got rid of some of my pages that I don't update or use anymore. I updated some of the links in the links page. I'm not going to bother updating the old news anymore. If links are broken there tough shit. That's about all that's new on the site since Tuesday...
Today is poker night at Mark's, so I'm gonna eat some dinner shortly and then head over there. Hopefully I'll do better this week than last when I lost with pocket jacks one hand, and then went all in with a straight on the flop and lost to a flush on the river. Have fun.

We got some new software at work on Monday. Apparently my job includes beta testing software for MirrorPlus. Our new software is so buggy, I feel like I need bring bug spray with me when I go to work in the morning. (shakes head in disgust)
I picked up the Legend of Zelda - Four Swords Adventures for Gamecube today. It's pretty cool so far. I'm looking forward to getting to play a little multiplayer Zelda. The downside to the game is that each player needs a GBA system and a GBA->GC cable for multiplayer, which means I probably won't play any multiplayer Zelda for awhile.
I'm going to miss O.A.R. when they come to the Bay Area next time (Aug 28). Instead, I'm planning to head down south to LA to see DMB, Ben Harper, and Black Eyed Peas with Don. Anyone in the Bay Area at the end of August should definately go check out the show. Matt Nathanson, Howie Day, and Guster are all opening for O.A.R.
Congrats to everyone in SB who is graduating this weekend. Hope you enjoyed college while it lasted. The real world sucks. While I'm thinking about SB, Here's an aerial shot. of our old pad. Thanks to Cyrus for posting it on my messageboard that nobody reads. It came from the California Coastline Project. You can check them out at californiacoastline.org.

It's a sad day in the music world. Phish is breaking up: phish.com/news/.
I had a good time in Denver this weekend visiting with the extended family. Dylan seems to be in good shape even after his manhood was viciously attacked. A little wine seemed to help with the pain. Here's a picture of the little squirt for all those who haven't seen any pics yet.
I also added some new setlists from the last week or so. Lastly, some O.A.R. west coast tour dates came out today:
8/25 Redmond, WA
8/26 Portland, OR
8/27 Bend, OR
8/28 Berkeley, CA
8/30 Vegas Baby!!
8/31 Phoenix, AZ
9/1 Alpine, CA
9/2 Los Angeles, CA
That's all for now. Discuss amongst yourselves.

I picked up Trey Anastasio's instrumental album a couple days ago. It's only about 30 minutes long. The only track that's worthwhile is an 11 minute orchestral version of Guyute. The rest of the album is ok, but it's nothing special.
Work is going well. Nothing exciting to talk about. There were some cool announcements at E3 this year: Nintendo DS, Sony PSP, HL2, Doom 3, Metroid Prime 2, Legend of Zelda GC, MGS3, GTA San Andreas, and Halo 2. That about rounds out the best/biggest names of E3. If you want info on any of them, head over to you favorite source of gaming info. Personally, I use ign.com, but there are plenty of other places to go for info. That about rounds out what's new here since Dylan. Next Friday night I'll be heading over to Denver to check out my new nephew for the weekend. Should be a fun little trip.

2004-05-11:
(5:15pm) Happy Birthday Dylan Andrew Hora!!!
Born May 11, 2004 3:06 PM He weighed in at 7 lbs 2.4oz and measured 19 7/8 inches.

2004-05-07:
(11:00pm) Well, um.. I haven't been doing much lately. I've been going to work and that's pretty much it. I bought a Gamecube last week. I picked up Metroid Prime and Smash Bros. I'll have to get Mario Kart sometime too. Other than that, I'm just as boring as the last time I posted something here. I downloaded a pretty sweet DVD of a Matt Nathanson show (04/26/2003). There is a torrent for it going right now on sharingthegroove... Hmm, I guess I should open my window again for awhile... Anyway hope you're all keeping busy at whatever you're doing. I'll try to post something every couple of days just for the sake of something new. Perhaps some song lyrics or a movie quote. However in the mean time I'm gonna go.. um, well I guess to sleep. I'm tired. So in conclusion I would like to thank all of you who have
(11:44pm) ...nevermind I lost my train of thought. It probably wouldn't have been funny anyway.

April

2004.04.23: (8:20pm) I bought 2 tickets to see the Dead on June 26th at Shoreline. If you're interested in going, I've got one unclaimed ticket at the moment. Or you can probably still get tickets from ticketbastard. I missed them the last 4 shows they did in the Bay Area, so I'm not gonna miss them this time!

2004.04.22: (7:20pm) I added a link to some of my Live .mp3s. It's easier to get to them now. I'm making some other changes to the site. Hopefully they won't be noticeable.
(8:37pm) I added a Live .mp3s link to the header. I got rid of the Google link. If you want to go to google from here, You'll just need to type it in. :p I also rearranged the messageboard a little. Enjoy the mp3s if you haven't heard them or downloaded them before.

2004.04.19: (11:17pm) There haven't really been any updates for awhile. I've added some setlists, but not too much has been happening. I went to visit Baba & Mikey on the farm this weekend. I rode Zeus for a little while. I even got him to canter for a little bit. I went bowling tonight and got my new all time high score of 148. I even had a 00 in the first frame ;). I also got a turkey sometime in the middle of that game. Vince still beat me that game, so I ended up second out of three people.
Anyway, for you Phish phans, check out the streaming audio from LivePhish.com. It's pretty good quality for streaming audio. It's actually listenable. I also put a link to it on the Other Links page.
New job is going well. I'm alone in my department starting this week, so now I have plenty of things to do most of the time. I'm doing more work with the data files and less paperwork, spreadsheets, and billing. Ok, It's time to go to sleep. Morning comes a lot earlier when your alarm is set for 6:20am instead of waking up at 10:00am.

2004.04.07: (11:20pm) My job is going fine I'll let you know more about it some other time. I just wanted to let everyone from SB know that I miss all of you. Life is definately boring without you guys. Good luck to those of you who still have classes to pass. Enjoy your time there while it lasts.
        -dave

2004.04.01: (8:29pm) Well, the ebay auction for my mp3 player ended last night. I'm putting it in the mail Friday. Congrats to Ronnie who won it.
The new job at San Jose Blue is going pretty well. I've basicly just been doing some billing and data entry there. The first day I just kinda stood around and watched people while they were running around me. Rick discribes the environment there as "organized chaos." It's a pretty accurate discription because everyone is always busy and there's always more stuff to do than we have time.
In other news, O.A.R. is opening for Dave Matthews Band at a few dates during the summer tour this year. (June 17-24) There are a bunch of other good openers for DMB too: Robert Randolph, Guster, Ben Harper, and Jason Mraz. I would go see any of them in a headlining tour. That's a pretty good set of openers.
...anyway, hope you're all doing well. Drop me a line sometime and let me know what's going on with you guys.

March

2004.03.24: (12:50pm) "A number of reliable sources have mentioned that permits are being applied for which would enable DMB to take part in a major-event music festival on September 11, 2004, at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, California. Whether DMB will be the only band at this "festival" remains to be seen, but it would seem that the boys are but only a single piece of the puzzle that's yet to be put together for this event, which is to be sponsored by one of the country's largest icy-cold beverage distributors. Furthermore, plans are in the works to broadcast this event worldwide via an internet webcast, which is sure to generate an even larger amount of interest." -info taken from antsmarching.org
(10:10pm) I'm trying to sell my Nomad Jukebox on ebay. Feel free to bid on it.

2004.03.16: (10:45am) I updated the tape trading page with a bunch of setlists. Mainly Bob Marley shows I got yesterday in a trade. I also downloaded the Donavon Frankenreiter set from the show I went to so I can give the songs I missed a listen. ...mmm I love music.

2004.03.13: (8:45am) I finished editing my tape from the show. I uploaded it to the Live Music Archive. It can be found here. This is just a quick little update to let you all know that before I go to work this morning.
(6:05pm) Ok, So the concert was pretty fun. It had a pretty solid setlist. I ran into a couple problems with the taping though. First thing was that I had floor tickets and the soundboard was upstairs in the balcony. During the opener, I went up on the balcony to talk to the soundboard crew, but the usher wouldn't let me because of my ticket. I went to the other side of the balcony and that usher let me go by. I talked to one of the guys at the soundboard and found out what I needed to do to tape. Then I went downstairs and watched the end of Donavon Frankenreiter's set. When his set was over and the crew had the stage set up, I went to the first layer of ushers on the stairwell and talked to them. This one girl didn't believe that you could tape, so I showed her the band's taping policy and she had me talk to someone else. He said to just tell people that I need to talk to the soundboard guy. At the next level of ushers upstairs, I showed him my ticket and said I needed to talk to the soundboard guy, and he let me by. I just walked by the last usher and went to the soundboard because the band was coming onstage. I set up my equipment and started taping. I missed about 10 sec of the first song, but it doesn't sound too bad because I only missed some of the intro. There ended up being an empty seat in the second row of the balcony near the soundboard, so I just sat there for the show so I wouldn't need to deal with the hassle of going up to get my equipment. Before the show, I was complaining about the battery life of the Nomad Jukebox 1 and how I'd need to swap batteries in the middle of the show. It turned out that I was able to plug into an extra outlet on a terminal strip and not need to deal with the batteries at all. :D

2004.03.11: (12:45am) Just got back from the O.A.R. concert. It was pretty good. I think I had more fun at the last one I went to though. I'll talk more about it later, but for now... I Managed to record the show. The little bit I listened to sounds OK. I'll probably start editing the files sometime later today. Ok. Bedtime for Dave.

2004.03.09: (11:45am) Ticket is now going to Scheity! Wheee O.A.R. show tomorrow!

2004.03.08: (10:45pm) DOES ANYONE WANT TO GO TO THE O.A.R. SHOW ON WEDNESDAY 3/10 IN SAN FRANCISCO??? I had one extra floor ticket. The show is at the Warfield. Doors open at 7pm. Show starts at 8pm. At the moment Ticketbastard still has balcony seats available, but no floor tickets.

2004.03.04: (11:25pm) Well, from the couple minutes of O.A.R. shows I've heard in the past few days on the phone, my friends seem to be having fun at the shows.
I started playing Final Fantasy VII again. Wheee... Yeah, I'm that big of a loser. Shaddup.

February

2004.02.25: (7:10pm) Seems like the only things that get posted lately are new setlists on the trading page and some live .mp3s... This post is no different.
...what I can't help it if my life is really boring. It's not like I did anything exciting today. I watched 50 First Dates, looked for jobs, cut my hair, worked out, and read messageboards. That's it. That's why I don't post too often... All the posts would be pretty much the same. Yes I understand the posts are still pretty similar. At least I keep giving you new songs to listen to.

2004.02.24: (3:10pm) Added more setlists (Tool, Rage, and Robert Randolph)... not that anyone checks.

2004.02.20: (1:50pm) Not much going on lately, thus no updates. There are some new setlists up on the trading page, but that's about it.
(3:10pm) I made a few changes to the site and added some Pearl Jam .mp3s to the site. It's the "Mamasan trilogy" from the 1992-06-18 concert in Zurich, Switzerland. Pretty cool for those of you who've never heard it.

2004.02.13: (11:20pm) It's been a craptastic day today. My Nomad Jukebox 1 only records for about an hour and 20 minutes. That means I need to buy another set of batteries and swap batteries halfway through the concert next month. The reason I got the NJB1 was so I wouldn't need to change anything halfway through the show. If I didn't mind changing things, I would have gotten a MiniDisc recorder because that would have been cheaper. I should have gotten the Nomad Jukebox 3 instead of the NJB1. The NJB3 has 11 hours of playback and ~3 hours of recording time.
I beat Metroid Zero Mission today. The part of the game after you defeat Mother Brain is frustrating and retarded. The game is really easy at the normal difficulty setting. I'll have to try playing it at the hard difficulty.
You can listen to the studio version of O.A.R. and Robert Randolph playing Fool in the Rain here. It's pretty sweet. It'll be available for download on iTunes next Tuesday... unless you can figure out a way to capture the stream. ;)

2004.02.11: (3:38pm) I got my Nomad Jukebox in the mail on Monday. Everything seems to work on it. I tested the playback, did some file transfers, and recorded a 30 second clip from tv using the cables I have. I'll have to give it a longer recording test to see how long the batteries last when it's recording. Hopefully they'll last the length of the show next month.
I worked on my resume a little. You can check it out at the links at the bottom of the page. I have word, html, and text versions of it. Nothing else going on at the moment. Just figured I'd throw a post up here since I'm updating my resume links.

2004.02.06: (11:38pm) This one's for you Donnie: Dave Matthews' Donkey Penis Story.
I bought a 20GB Nomad Jukebox .mp3 player on Ebay a couple days ago. All I should need to get now is a USB cable so I can connect it to my pc. If it works, I'm planning to tape the O.A.R. show in San Fran on 03/10/2004. Tickets go onsale Sunday morning at 10am. The next step is finding some mics so I can tape shows where I can't patch into the soundboard, but that definately needs to wait until I have some money ...or at least less debt and a concert to go to. ;)
Hope you're all doing well and enjoy the little Dave .mp3 that I made from Craig Willoughby's San Diego tape. Later all.

2004.02.02: (12:00pm) Here's an .mp3 of O.A.R. and Robert Randolph playing Fool in the Rain from the 2004-01-31 show. O.A.R. - Fool in the Rain.mp3. It's definately not as cool as the Dave & Friends cover, but it's still pretty cool to hear.

January

2004.01.31: (9:00pm) A while ago I downloaded the source to a Twixt applet because I was gonna try to improve the craptastic AI... I opened the source file today to see what I could figure out... I decided I don't know enough German to play with the files. It would be way more work than it's worth to try to understand and edit the source.
I went to the "How to Break Into The Game Industry" conference today in San Fran. It was fairly interesting. I learned some good stuff when industry people were going over resumes. I need to work on my resume sometime soon because it sucks.
Tomorrow's the superBowl. My prediction: New England 24, Carolina 17. I want Carolina to win, but I have my doubts that they can pull it off.
Yesterday (and today) O.A.R. played Fool in the Rain!! I'm definately hoping to hear that cover sometime. I downloaded the O.A.R. show from 2004.01.29 because they played Cage <-> Black, but it wasn't anything special. It was a lot better when I saw them play it last year in Ventura. Don't know when tickets go onsale for the San Fran show on 03.10.2004. The Warfield and Ticketmaster's sites don't have any info yet on it, but it's up on the list of dates on the O.A.R. site. O.A.R. has a new song called 52-50.

2004.01.27: (10:00am) Ok, Bob, Fred and Smith. You're all fired for spamming an email worm LOL. I got messages in my inbox from bob, fred, and smith @ horaenterprises. Those are not real accounts. Stupid internet worms. NOTE: if I don't know your email address, I'm not opening an attachment from you.

2004.01.26: (8:00pm) Video gaming conference on 01/31/2004 in San Francisco. Info at: www.thegameinitiative.com Pre-sale tickets are $36.56 and Day Of tickets are $45. I tried to get Dead tickets for 02/09/2004 10 min after they went on sale. By that point, they were all sold out already. You'd figure that the stoners who go to Dead shows would be a little slower getting their tickets than that. If you're wondering, yes I fixed my window on my car. I needed to drill 2 holes in the frame so I could access the 3 bolts that held the window motor in place. Once the motor was removed, the window slid freely. Still no good news on the job hunt. I picked up a bunch of job applications today for random places. Wheee filling out job applications is fun... d'oh.

2004.01.22: (8:00pm) Playing around with the page. May do some cool things here in the near future. Not that it matters because I'm the only person who ever goes here.
        -dave

2004.01.20: (9:00pm) Well, It was a fun week hangin out with all of the guys from school. The Dave & Friends show kicked some major ass. Here's a link to the setlist from the show. I'm adding a new section to the links page with some .torrent sites. I tried to fix the passenger window of my car today and couldn't get it rolled up. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to figure out how to get that window back up.

2004.01.12: (11:00pm) I'm packed and ready to go. Wheeeee lots of driving tomorrow. I also put a new battery in my Metroid 2 GameBoy cartridge and beat it again. ...Anyway probably no updates for the next week.

2004.01.09: (9:10pm) Ok, I think that the plan for my trip is pretty much figured out. Check yesterday's post to see it.

For any of you who are interested. The O.A.R. west coast tour dates and venues are up now on oarsa. The official site doesn't even have the info up yet.

2004.01.02: (4:00pm) Hope you all had a fun new years. I had a good time hangin out in San Jose for new years eve... Next year I definately want to go somewhere where there is more going on.
(10:40pm) Well, I've been battling viruses on my computer all afternoon. It seems to be fixed now. I downloaded (and paid $35 for) the McAffe antivirus software. It seems to have fixed my problem. I don't know why, but in 6 months in Sunnyvale I've gotten more viruses (three that I had to fix and a few others that haven't bothered me) than I have in Santa Barbara in 3 years. ...Anyway, seems to be fixed. Shouldn't have too many virus problems now.
