You'd think that with the lack of updates lately, there's plenty to tell. Not really. I've kept myself busy, but not doing much of interest. I wake up. I go to work. I go home. I eat dinner. I sleep. ...that's about it. Fairly dull. I've been trying to practice the guitar more often. I've been playing a lot of Mario Kart DS since that came out... Not really sure what else I've been doing. Anyway, Happy Holidays to all, and to all a Good Night.

Uploaded some new setlists. Won the poker game with my buddies last night. That gives me 2 wins out of the 3 games we played in my new apartment. Something tells me we might play somewhere else next week.

Went to a couple concerts in the past couple weeks. Saw the Eagles on 10/14 at the San Jose Arena. Pretty good show. Our seats were on the side of the stage, but it was still close enough to actually see people as opposed to watching monitors. Good setlist, although they're not mixing it up this tour, which would suck if you were seeing multiple shows. I'm pretty sure this is the correct setlist for the show:
Set 1:

01) Take It Easy
02) Witchy Woman
03) Peaceful Easy Feeling
04) One of These Nights
05) New Kid In Town
06) I Can't Tell You Why
07) Lyin' Eyes
08) The Boys of Summer
09) In The City
10) The Long Run

Set 2:

11) Tequila Sunrise
12) Love Will Keep Us Alive
13) Hole In The World
14) Take It To The Limit
15) Walk Away
16) Sunset Grill
17) Life's Been Good
18) Dirty Laundry
19) Funk #49
20) Heartache Tonight
21) Life In The Fast Lane

Encore 1:
22) Hotel California

Encore 2:
23) Rocky Mountain Way
24) All She Wants To Do Is Dance

Encore 3:
25) Already Gone
26) Desperado

This weekend we saw Gov't Mule and moe. at the Warfield in San Fran on 10/22. Both bands were pretty solid. They are doing a co-headlining tour, so they are switching which band opens/closes each night. Both bands played for about 2 hours. Here's the setlists:

Been busy lately with the new job, moving, etc. Nothing too interesting to post. Job is going well. New apartment is nice. Today is the first day for awhile where I get to just sit and do nothing. So far I'm 3-0 in fantasy football and lead the league in points. I recently went through Metroid Fusion & Metroid Zero Mission and got 100% completion in those. I set up my Atari & Genesis systems yesterday, so I'm planning to spend some time with those today. Pretty worthless news, but that's ok, it's better than nothing.

"Oh I love to stay at...."
Better late than never: DMB Reviews.
8-12-05: Awesome night. I have a setlist posted on the trading page. Tremendous energy from everyone in the band. Jams, yes Jams during about half of the songs. I have to give the jam of the night to the American Baby Intro. That was awesome. The best part about it was that it was followed by Jimi Thing. Eric Krasno from Soulive came out as a guest and pretty much stole the show. He gave such a different flavor to all of the new material.
Seating: Field Reserve: Section 3 Row 3 Seat 8.
8-13-05: This time we got there in time for the Black Eyed Peas. They were ok. Nothing too exciting IMO. DMB had a much better setlist, but not too many jams other than a 23 minute Two Step. The energy was there again, but when compared to the first night, it wasn't quite the same.
Seating: Lower Box: Section 121 Row 27 Seat 14.
I picked up some tickets for Gov't Mule & moe. on Saturday October 22 at the Warfield in San Fran. Sounds like a good show to tape.
I started my new job last week. So far so good.
The demolition of the kitchen/living room is moving pretty fast.
I picked up some new guitar strings this weekend. I got some DR Med/Lite acoustic guitar strings for anyone who was interested. It's interesting to hear how different they sound from the old strings.
Well it's been awhile since a post of any reasonable length, so I figured I might as well let you all know what's been going on.

Never seems like anything interesting is going on. I recreated my messageboard: www.horaenterprises.com/board/ Maybe it will get some use as a pre-draft messageboard for fantasy football. If you used to have a login, it has been deleted and you'll need to make a new one. ...I'll bet nobody noticed it was gone.
Next weekend I'm heading to Yosemite for our annual family trip. This year Abby is going to come too. Too bad I still have a week left. I want to go now.
The kitchen renovation looks like it's slated to start on the 2nd week of August or so. I'm not looking forward to it.

"Many of the shows we played that spring [1970] have entered history carrying the epithet 'legendary' - not only because people had them burned into memory, but because they were recorded form the audience as part of a new phenomenon, the tapers. These fans arrived at the show loaded down with portable cassette equipment, microphones, and lots of batteries; they would set up in the most acoustically promising location (usually right in front of the soundboard) and proceed to record the entire show. Since we had from the beginning tried our darndest to not play the same show every night, the Greatful Dead were a perfect resource for tapers. An entire tape-trading culture was to grow from these tentative beginnings. The technology became more and more sophisticated, and networks of fans sprang up who were dedicated to trading the tapes of their favorite bands. Those who would allow taping, that is; our philosophy was, as usual, expressed most pithily by Jerry: 'As soon as we play it, we're done with it. Let 'em have it." (Lesh 174)
"It didn't hurt that tapes of our shows were now being traded widely around the college circuit. In what remains the best decision we never made, allowing tapers to record and trade our shows essentially usurped the function of studio records with live performances. Since no two shows were alike, every show that went forth and multiplied itself on the trading tree was another advertisement for our live shows. Every friend or sibling of a Deadhead that weaseled a copy of a favorite tape and passed it on was contributing to theb growth of the community (and to the size of our audience)." (Lesh 192)

Posted some new setlists. I taped Phil's show last Friday night (technically Saturday morning). It came out pretty well. Nothing else too interesting going on. I'm keeping myself busy with lots of work, some Zelda, & some reading. Well, I have other things to waste time with, so I'm done typing this. This message is over.

About to go to work. Quick little update. Spend a nice long uneventful weekend hangin out with Abby. My Umphrey's McGee show is up on the The Live Music Archive for those that didn't know. Not the best sounding show. I'm a little disappointed in that one, but an ok tape is better than no tape at all. Nothing else going on around here at the moment. Hope you're all having fun wherever you are.

lol... i just noticed the time and what i'm listening to go together pretty well... anyway, the new dmb album is out, so i decided it's time for a change in the hora enterprises logo... i was thinking of a star wars theme, but this one looks pretty good too. =p

My moe. recording is up on the archive now. I did a little comparison with the other source that I found for the show, Neumann KM140s(ORTF)-> V2-> SBM1-> D8, and didn't notice too much difference. The other source was clamped on the balcony in the front where I was in the back next to the board. I got a little more crowd noise, but overall, they sound pretty similar. The km184's definately don't sound like they are worth ~2k for the pair in my opinion.

2005-04-27 (1:30am) currently listening to: Umphrey's McGee - 2005-04-15
Busy time at work. We were short 1 person in my department for the last couple weeks. Now we are short 2 people. I don't agree with it, but we'll see what happens. I'm working the swing shift for a few weeks right now. Supposedly I work from 1:30pm until 10pm, but the last couple days have been more like 1:30pm to 1am.
On a lighter note, Umphrey's McGee will be in San Francisco for 3 shows next weekend. Unfortunately I can only go to the one on Saturday. Too bad I didn't notice before I got scheduled to work nights or I could have gone on Friday too. I just bought my tickets from virtuous.com. They were $16 plus a $2 convenience fee. The same tickets were on sale at tickets.com for a larger convenience fee and a processing fee... Anyway, it looks like Phil, Abby, my mics, and I will be hitting up the show on Saturday night. I'm stoked. I've wanted to see these guys for awhile. I thought I checked their tour dates lately... Apparently I haven't checked them since about Feb when I was thinking about seeing them when they opened for Phil Lesh & Friends on Mardi Gras.
The Moe show is still a work in progress. I'm not sure where to split some of the tracks. I did a little research on it and have a pretty good idea where I want to split them, but I'll wait a little while longer and see if anyone else's source pops up. Anyway, my Guinness is almost gone, so I'm gonna go to bed. I'll talk to you all later.

2005-04-17 (10:50am) currently listening to: Dave Matthews Band - Stuff Busted Vol 2
It's been a busy taping week. Thursday I taped moe. at the Catalyst Club in Santa Cruz. It was an awesome show. I haven't really listened to much of the tape yet, but the right channel is a little quieter than the left from what I've heard. Maybe I'll start working on that tape today. Such a sweet show. I'm glad I decided to head over there to check them out. If you don't have a clue who moe. is, they are a jamband like the Grateful Dead or Phish. Here is the setlist for anyone who is interested:
  Set 1: ~75:49
Not Coming Down >
Wormwood >
St. Augustine
Akimbo
Good Trip
Understand >
Opium >
Okayalright

  Set 2/Encore: ~96:37
Recreational Chemistry* >
All Roads Lead to Home
Time Ed >
Down Boy
Rise >
Recreational Chemistry Reprise
  Encore:
The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down
The Ghost of Ralph's Mom

* With Marc Brownstein of the Disco Biscuits on bass.
On Friday, I headed over to the Cupertino Brit to check out my buddy Phil's band, Relapse. The show was pretty good. I was about 25' from the stage on the right side of the room. The mics were about a foot from the ceiling and the right mic was about 4 inches from the right wall. I redlined my levels for the first time other than when someone bumped into my stand at the O.A.R. show last month. The drummer redlined my levels a few times during the first few songs before he got tired. If you take a look at the wave, you can see the drum levels dropping throughout the show.
Mmmm... A fun concert going weekend and a backlog of shows to transfer. I wish I had this problem more often.

I got rid of the messageboard. It would have been cool... sniff. I put up a link to archive.org instead. I practiced the guitar tonight after a few days, probably about a week, off. I started watching Twin Peaks again. The owls are not what they seem. I think I'll probably go to sleep early tonight, since I can't think of anything else interesting to do.

What's new? Not much. Truck is running well. I'm going to Denver at the end of April for an ARC tech conference. Nothing else too exciting going on around here.
I posted my tape from the O.A.R. show on March 3, 2005 on the Live Music Archive. There is a torrent for The Southland's set on easytree.org. Some other new setlists are up on the trading page as well.

My email has been down for about a week. If you emailed me, it's still trickling in. I probably have it by now, but it's still coming. I realized I only really have one email address now, so I got a new G-Mail account as a backup for when my email goes down. I put both email addresses in my signatures, so if I mail you, you'll get my other address. Who knows, if G-mail is cool, maybe I'll just forward mail to my G-mail account.

Last night was pretty fun. I picked up Pheezy and we headed out to play some pool with 'Dre and Ram at First St. Billiards. At about 11:30, 'Dre, Phil, and I headed over to the Blank Club to check out Greg's band, The Implants. At first I was told that I couldn't set up my stand, but then as the band was setting up, the manager said I could set up the stand to the right of the soundboard. The Implants ran through an 11 song set in about 33 min. The sound in the club was pretty muddy, and the vocals were way low, but my tape ended up sounding pretty good considering the sound in the club. It's still hard to hear the vocals, but I think it sounds a little cleaner than last night. I'll have to get a setlist from Greg sometime so I can label the tracks in my text file correctly.
At the moment, I'll post the mp3s I made of the show. The mp3s are sampled at 320k/s and are about 75.5MB total. I'll make you guys CDs from the wav files next time I see you. I also have flac files that I may decide to post sometime. The show is about 203MB in flac. I don't have enough space to host both the flac and mp3s at the moment, so I'll just post the mp3s for now. If anyone wants the lossless files, let me know.
        Here are the mp3s.

2005-02-10 (7:50pm) currently listening to: Matt Nathanson - Lucky Boy
The only updates lately have been some setlists. I added a couple of pics of my mics on the stand. Not too interesting, but something new. I'm planning to try to tape Greg's band, The Implants, tomorrow night at The Blank Club in San Jose. Hopefully that will go well. Maybe I'll post some tracks from the show if the recording goes well.

2005-02-02 (7:10pm) currently listening to: Grateful Dead 1974-8-4
I think I finally got my "t-bar" figured out. I drilled a hole in a yard stick and will just put that on top of my light stand to make a t-bar. The only problem is that it could spin while it's up there, but I don't think that'll be too big of a problem because at the moment it's a snug fit. I'll post some pics next time I set my rig up. Still no new car. Maybe next week I'll go shopping for cars again. I just got a nice big trade in the mail, so I've got a backlog of discs to listen to... Darn I hate when that happens. ;) Too bad I can't listen to them at work anymore. Anyway, since I was updating setlists, I figured I'd post a quick update here. Hope you're all doing well. I'll talk to you later.

I got my mics in the mail on Tuesday the 18th. They're pretty sweet. I posted some pictures of my mics here. I tried recording our stereo today. It came out ok. The recording was a little quiet when listening on my NJB3. I'll definately need to play around with my mics more when I have some free time. Just figured I'd let the few people that didn't know about my new mics see some pictures.

Worked the swing shift at work this week. It wasn't too bad, but the hours kinda suck because when I get off work, it's time to go to sleep.
Nothing new. Just figured I'd ramble for a little while. My mics were shipped yesterday. Now according to Fed Ex, they're somewhere between here and Memphis, TN. They're supposed to be here on Wed cause I didn't want to pay an arm and a leg to ship them. I can't wait till I can start taping w/ these mics.
Dammit... I hate bing sick. Oh well, at least I can watch football all weekend.

I went looking at cars last weekend. I think I'll probably get a Toyota Tacoma.
I just ordered my mics tonight. I ordered a pair of SP-CMC-2 (AT831) mics and a SP-SPSB-1 battery box from Sound Professionals. Can't wait to try those puppies out. Now I just need some concerts to go to. The only problem is that once I actually buy a car, I won't have enough money to go to shows. Oh well, the concerts will be few and far between this year... again. I probably won't go to a show till O.A.R. comes to town in March.

2005-01-05 (8:00pm) currently listening to: The Eagles - Take it Easy
Lots going on. Haven't had much free time. This is just a quick update. I got a digital camera for Christmas, so I'll add some pictures. Some pictures are available at horaenterprises.com/pics/. Hopefully more updates in the next few days. Enjoy.
