Well, there haven't been any updates for a couple of months because there hasn't been much interesting going on around here.
I'm still working at Beachhead Solutions.
I've been playing a lot of Battlefield 2142 lately.
I haven't gone to any concerts since Dave Matthews Band in September.
I haven't done any Christmas shopping yet.
I'm currently trying to clean up my computer.
I'm uploading a couple new setlists.
I'm out.

Roll Away the Dew...
DMB / RRFB shows at Shoreline were good. I taped both nights. You can grab the RRFB shows from the Archive. Click the Live Recordings link above and on that page there are a couple links to grab the shows.

Well, I finally uploaded some live recordings that can't be found elsewhere on the net. All three of the Relapse shows I taped are posted in both flac and mp3 for those who don't know what a flac file is. You can also get to the page by clicking the Live link in the header above.
I saw Soul Asylum and the Animal Liberation Orchestra last week in San Jose. It was a fun show in the park. ALO put on a fun set. They opened with BBQ followed by my favorite, Wasting Time (The IV Song). I didn't keep track of the rest of the set, but here's some of the other songs they played: Shapeshifter, Gardener, Country Camper, Girl I wanna Lay You Down, and Walls of Jericho. Here are some pics that someone else took of ALO. Soul Asylum put on a better show than I expected. The only song I remembered they played before the show was Runaway Train. During the show there were a few moments of "Oh yeah, I know this song. That's these guys?" The highlight was when they had the three roadies come out onstage and play a song. The arrangement for that song was: Michael Bland on Drums, Tommy Stinson on Bass, 2 Roadies on acoustic Gibsons, 1 Roadie on a Gibson Les Paul, Dan Murphy on a Gibson Les Paul, and Dave Pirner on a Fender Telecaster. The song filled in nicely with all of the different guitars. It made the rest of the show sound a little hollow by comparison. I actually found a clip from the Soul Asylum show on YouTube. Here's the clip. I hope you all have a good Labor Day Weekend.

Quick update. I've been fairly busy lately. Yosemite was fun. There are pictures up on the site here: Yosemite 2006 Pics. I'm still planning to post some live recordings sometime. I just haven't gotten around to it yet. Maybe later this week?
13 posts so far this year / 8 months = 1.625 posts per month.
1.625 posts per month * 12 months = 19.5 posts per year.
Place your bets. Over/Under is still 20.

I went to the Pearl Jam show Saturday at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco. The last time I saw Pearl Jam was in 1998 during the Yeild Tour, so I was pretty excited to see them again because it had been awhile. The show started with an Eddie solo acoustic song. After Eddie was done, Sonic Youth came out. Their set was ok. It was better towards the end when they stopped making noise and actually played a few songs. Pearl Jam came out with a mellow opening song and then they broke out into Go to jump start the crowd. The atmosphere was like night and day between those two songs. When Go started, the crowd went nuts. Overall, Pearl Jam put on a good show with lots of energy. Some highlights for me: State of Love and Trust, the reverse trilogy of Footsteps, Once, Alive, and finishing off the night with Yellow Ledbetter. I figured the show was over after Rockin' in the Free World and then they started playing Ledbetter. The show was a little heavy on songs I recognized, but didn't really know, but it was cool to catch a bunch of songs I hadn't seen them play before. Here's the setlist:

There has been a little downtime over the last couple of days because I've recently been moved to a new server. Now instead of 500 MB of storage, I get 10 GB, which is 10,240 MB. At the moment, I'm planning to host some shows I taped that are not currently available on the internet. Hopefully over the next few days I'll get something up. I took down the O.A.R. mp3s. I'm sure you can find them somewhere else if you need to. (Check oarsa.org). I also posted all of the pictures at 800x600, or 800x1067 depending on the orientation, instead of 2048x1536.

I wrote up a review of Black Crowes concert I went to over the weekend on Wednesday. Then due to the reformatting of my work laptop, I was a little busy and didn't quite get to post it yet, so here it is:

I went to the Black Crowes / Robert Randolph / Drive-By Truckers show on Sunday at Shoreline. Solid shows by all three bands. The lawn was mostly empty all night. It could have been the smallest lawn crowd I've ever seen at Shoreline.
The Truckers set started at 6:30. The first song was so muddy I couldn't really hear anything other than noise. About halfway through the second song, the soundguy straightened things out and it was smooth sailing from then on. They put on a good show with some nice jams. I hadn't seen the Truckers before, but I had listened to a show of theirs awhile ago and remembered thinking they were ok, but not great, so I was plesantly surprised with their set. Their set ended at about 7:15.
At about 7:30 Robert Randolph took the stage and played until 8:30. The set opened with about a 18-20 minute jam. After that I figured we'd here some songs with vocals, but Robert Randolph did not say a word during the entire show. (I wonder if he lost his voice)? Only one song the whole night had lyrics and it was sung by the bass player. Randolph may not have been singing, but at one point he stopped playing and just stood up and danced for a couple of minutes, so it appeared like he was enjoying himself. For one (or two?) songs, he picked up a Telecaster and played some guitar as opposed to the pedal steel. They put together an hour long set of nothing but jams. Before their set I was really hoping it would be good, because I'm seeing Robert Randolph two more times this summer when they open for Dave Matthews Band. After Robert Randolph's set, I can't wait until September to see them again. This set was the highlight of the night in my opinion.
At 9:00 the Crowes took the stage. I don't know much of their material other than the album Shake Your Money Maker.
(Which if you don't have you should stop reading now and pick it up. I'll wait....
...
..
.
OK. You listening to it now? Good.)
...Anyway, The Crowes started it off Stare it Cold, which I knew. They then proceeded to jam through a bundle of songs I didn't know, but enjoyed immensely. They then played covers of You've Got to Hide Your Love Away and Forever Young. The jamming started up again and proceeded to take us through the rest of the evening, culminating in Hard to Handle. They took a quick breather and returned for a one song encore. Great show. I would absolutely recommend the Crowes to anyone who wants to see a good rock show.
Here are some pictures somebody else took of the Black Crowes. The setlists are posted below for anyone interested. (I'm not really sure what Robert Randolph played other than Saints and Voodoo).

Dave Matthews Band tours are the best when they are not supporting an album.
Nuff Said.
Moved my pictures of Relapse from last year to a new spot on the site. I also added a link to them from the pics page, and redirected the old URL to their new location. Now you don't need to type the URL anymore, not that anyone knew it was there.

I posted Justin & Sam's Wedding pictures. I didn't post the full size originals to save some space, so the "full size" images are all 800x600, or 800x1067 depending on the orientation, instead of 2048x1536.

Justin & Sam's wedding was on Saturday. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. It was nice seeing some of my friends who don't live in the Bay Area anymore. I took a bunch of pictures of the location, but not many of actual people. Hopefully some of them will make it up onto the site eventually. The happy couple should be basking in the Hawaiian sun by now.. well it may be a little too early in the morning now, but later today...

10 New Setlists. I tried to get Tool tickets this morning for the show in Oakland on May 4th. Tickets went onsale at 10am. At 9:58 I went to tm.com and hit refresh until it said tickets were on sale. I chose "best available" and hit go. I entered whatever the jumbled word was. ....Searching.... "There are no tickets matching your request." WTF? It's not even 10:01 yet!? ...So tickets sold out in the space of 10-20 seconds that it took me to look for tickets.

"Could I have been..."
...busy at work lately. I picked up a copy of Metroid Prime: Hunters for DS the other day. The single player isn't as good as a normal Metroid game. The multiplayer is pretty fun, although it takes forever to start a game if I try to play online. The new Pearl Jam album comes out May 2nd. Supposedly the new TOOL album also comes out May 2nd. Haven't been to any concerts lately. Saw V for Vendetta last week. I enjoyed it.
Of course the only reason I'm updating is I'm adding more setlists. ;)

Today I did my occasional check of my messageboard that doesn't get used. I opened it up and as some of you may know, it didn't come up and instead it got a nice friendly "we have hacked your phpBB... blah blah blah." So I did a some easy admin work today on the site... "DELETE" ...So there's no messageboard again, not that anyone has used it for anything other than spam in the last 6 months. Since I'm updating, I'm adding some new setlists.
I'm setting the over/under for posts here at 20 for the year. Last year there were about 30 posts. I haven't had more than 2 posts in a month since last August. Place your bets.

Went to Mike Menacho's wedding last weekend in Washington state. It was pretty cool. We went up on Thursday and came back on Tuesday. We were supposed to come back on Monday, but we had some car trouble and needed to wait a day for a part to come. Hope everyone had a good Holiday Season.
